When Design Becomes Motion: The Story of Goran Micic for Curious X

In a world where design is often consumed quickly and superficially, Goran Mićić creates the opposite. His approach is not only visual, but deeply personal. Every line has a purpose, and every form carries meaning. As part of the Curious X program by IQOS, Mićić brings his designs beyond the skin and into carefully crafted clothing pieces that users can choose and integrate into their personal style.

In this interview, we talk about his inspiration, his challenges, and the emotions behind Motion and Velocity, the two designs of Curious X. Let’s see how it looks when art takes on a new form.

How do you experience the moment when your art moves “beyond the skin” and becomes part of something bigger?

It’s a very specific feeling. I’m used to seeing my work on people’s skin, as something deeply personal as well as permanent. When that same art shifts into something else, into another medium, like clothing or digital format, it becomes a new kind of challenge for me. All of a sudden, the piece is no longer for just one person, it becomes something that many people see, choose, and wear in their own way. That comes with greater responsibility, but also freedom to tell the story differently.

What do the designs Motion and Velocity mean to you?

Motion and Velocity are inspired by movement, but not only in a physical sense. For me, it’s about inner movement and change, about the energy you can’t hold still. I see Motion as flow, something constantly evolving, while Velocity represents the intensity of that movement, the moment when things accelerate and grow stronger.

The inspiration came from everyday moments like the rhythm of the city, the people, and the energy you feel around you. I wanted to translate that feeling into a visual that doesn’t stand still but carries life and dynamics.

How different is the process when the design becomes part of a platform like Curious X?

It’s entirely different from traditional tattoo art. With a tattoo, you have one client and one story. In this case it’s more like an audience. People will see the design, feel it, and decide whether they connect with it.

On top of that, the voting process creates an entirely new dimension. It means the design has to communicate instantly, to attract and hold the attention of the audience. For me, that was the challenge: to create something with depth, but also with strong visual impact.

How do you feel about people voting for your designs and them becoming part of a collection?

Honestly, it carries a special kind of weight. When someone picks a design, they’re not just choosing a visual, but an entire story. When that design becomes something that people wear, it becomes part of their identity.

For me, that’s the greatest value: creating something that doesn’t just remain art, but becomes part of someone’s everyday life.

What do you want people to feel when they see these designs?

I want them to feel energy. To sense that something is moving, that there’s life in the design. I don’t just want them to like it visually; I want them to recognize themselves in it.

If someone stops, looks at it, and feels something, then I know I’ve achieved my goal.

Your voice carries the story forward
