What is the difference in heat-not-burn devices?

Heated tobacco devices are also called heat-not-burn devices due to the fact that they use technology that heats tobacco instead of burning it.

At the base of our IQOS devices is the patented HeatControl technology that heats real tobacco. Since IQOS devices are powered by batteries, they need to be charged regularly, just as you would charge your smartphone. By pressing a button on the IQOS device, the process of heating real tobacco without burning begins, and the two vibrations will notify you that the device is ready for use.

Since the tobacco is heated and doesn’t burn, IQOS emits 95% less harmful compounds compared to cigarettes.*
